Dos and Don'ts
Dos and Don'ts
- When connecting several capacitors in parallel, make sure that the current is collected directly from each capacitor and not above a neighbor capacitor.
- There should be no pulling force nor shear stress on the capacitor’s electrodes after mounting the capacitors. The design of the system should allow zero stress on the capacitors.
- When designing a capacitor bank, make sure that bus-bars carrying large current are not located in proximity to the capacitors. Failing to do it will cause the capacitors to warm up and will shorten their life. Usually distance of 5cm is enough.
