For environments in which operating temperatures and/or frequencies are too high for polypropylene capacitors, mica capacitors provide a substantially more cost-efficient solution than widely-used ceramic technology.
Mica dielectrics feature:
- A low loss angle (tan δ<5x10-4)
- A dielectric constant that is independent of temperature
- A flexible operating temperature range up to 150°C
- High dielectric constant (ε=~8) that allows higher capacitance per unit volume
